Tag & Reviews: $20 Makeup Challenge

This is a new tag that Rissrose2 started and has been going around youtube.
The challenge is if you're traveling, the airport lost your makeup, and you only had a $20 budget to spend makeup on for an occasion that same day, what products would you buy & use?
Tax is not included in the tag. Also, all brushes or tools are a part of that $20 budget as well as the makeup.

Face:
E.L.F. face brush $1.00- This brush is not soft & it's a little too scratchy for my face.

Maybelline Coverstick Concealer $4.94
This concealer is a pretty thick concealer and it can get cakey if you apply it on dry patches. I definitely don't recommend this for people with dry skin. I like pretty thick concealers because I have oily skin and I like my concealers staying put throughout the day, but this concealer just ends up blending away when I try blending it on my hyperpigmentations. Also, it's definitely too thick for the under-eye area. I have it in the shade Ivory.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder $3.97- I like this powder; It does its job in setting my foundation or concealer. Nothing too special.
E.L.F. Studio Blush & Bronzer Duo $3.00
The bronzer is really pigmented so you have to be careful when dabbing your brush in to get some product because a little goes a long way. The blush, on the the other hand, does not really show up on my face. It does not pick up easily with my blush brush, so I really need to swipe it a few times to get the color to show. So the bronzer is very pigmented, the blush isn't.

Eyes:
NYC Liquid Eyeliner $2.99
This is one of those liquid liners with a brush tip that you dip in the tube. I personally prefer pen liquid eyeliners with felt tips but this was something interesting to try. You need a steady hand to use this and if you're not a professional in putting on liquid eyeliner, this can be a little difficult for you to use because it's easy to make mistakes. You have to wait a few seconds for this to dry when you put it on, so I don't recommend this for people who are in a hurry and need to do their makeup quick and go. I tried checking if it's smudge-proof. After it dries & sets, it definitely passes the rubbing test because it doesn't budge. As for being waterproof, I ran my hand under running water and it stayed put, but it smudged easily when I wiped it after it was under the running water.
Wet N Wild Walking on Eggshells Eyeshadow Palette $2.99- I love this eyeshadow palette. It's pigmented and has beautiful shades. You can see my post on the swatches of this palette here.
(Ignore the e.l.f. eyelid primer. I didn't use it because it wasn't in the budget.)
 Lips:
E.L.F. Super Glossy Lip Shine $1.00

It's a sticky lip gloss with a lot of shine and some color. I personally think it's too sticky for me. I have it in the shade Pink Kiss.

Total Price: $19.89
If any of you want to do this tag, please do. I'd love to see it!

My Glam: May 2012

This month's makeup bag was this satin-like sky blue bag with lipstick patterns all over it. I actually like it because I've been into light blues lately.

This month's card has Macbarbie07 on it and the theme of the bag is "Love is in the air."
I want to start off with the product that I didn't like in this month's bag. This Studio Gear lipstick is in the color Cinnabar. Promise Phan actually did a look featuring this lipstick on her youtube. The first thought that came to my mind when I saw the shade was "I don't like it." But that's not all. The whole lipstick itself fell off. I literally had to put the lipstick back in the tube. That's why my lipstick is damaged. Lastly, it smells like plastic. The Studio Gear lipstick retails for $15 but it smells like those cheap plastic smelling lipsticks.
The swatch looks so much better on my hand than on my lips. It gives me that goth/older-than-my-age look.

I haven't tried these yet but I'll probably use them one-by-one as an accent nail.
I love how this smells. I'll definitely look into getting the full sized bottle.
Last are the myglam concealer and eyeliner brushes. I like them, but I'd probably use the eyeliner brush as a lip brush or something.

The Balm: Down Boy Shadow/Blush & Mary-Lou Manizer

Hi everyone! So today, Hautelook started their sale on some of The Balm makeup products. Hautelook is a website you can shop at that has sales from different brands on different dates. Click here if you want to find The Balm's sale on Hautelook. The downfall is that they only ship to the U.S. and Canada.

Since I already have 2 of The Balm products that are on sale on Hautelook right now, I decided it would be the best time to share this post with you all.

This is The Balm's eye shadow & blush in Down Boy
Down Boy is a nice kind of bubble gum pink blush
Here's a swatch of Down Boy blended out. It is very pigmented and easy to blend.
I actually bought this at it's full price of $21. But right now it is currently $10.50 on Hautelook.
This next product is The Balm's Mary-Lou Manizer highlight & eyeshadow.
In person, this doesn't show much shimmer on my face like it appears on the photo. In person, it's more of a nice glow. My camera tends to just pick up every little detail.
As you can see on my finger, it gives a nice glow.
I purchased this at its regualar price of $24. It is currently $12 on Hautelook.

Overall, I love these products. Their quality is really great. I did put in my small purchase through Hautelook already. I'm getting the Frat Boy blush! Don't forget to check Hautelook out: here.

I've been wanting this shade for a while and am so happy to finally have it.
The swatch of creamsicle is on the way top. I was swatching my other makeup before taking this photo. Haha!
