June 2012 Favorites

Top:
E.L.F.'s Mineral Booster in Sheer is the only powder I want to use over my liquid foundations or bb creams from now on, or until I find another great product like it. This is my 2nd or 3rd one. When I first used this, it was the summer of 2010, if I'm not mistaken. When I put other powders to set my liquid or cream makeup, they tend to make me look cakey. This powder, however, doesn't do that. It makes my skin look nice and natural while setting my makeup.

Bottom Left to Right:
Maybelline's 24 Hr Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze is a cream eyeshadow that once set on the lids, it doesn't budge. I have oily lids and this doesn't smudge. When I swatched this on my skin, even when I rubbed it, it wouldn't wipe away. I especially love it for days that I just want a quick makeup look because I just swipe this all over my eyelids and I'm done.

Maybelline's Dream Mousse Concealer is one of my all time favorite concealers that I've had on my monthly favorites before. As you can see, I hit pan on it. But no fret there because I have back ups. They did discontinue these but you can still buy them online. I love this because it actually stays on my skin after I lightly blend it in my problem areas. There are concealers out there that just blend away when I try my best to just lightly blend them to my skin, and this is definitely not one of those frustrating concealers.

Burt's Bees Lip Balm in Passionfruit is a waxy lip balm that I don't like using on it's own. I've been using this almost everyday of the month as a base for my lipsticks. Since it's not slippery like other lip balms, it doesn't slide my lipstick around. One other reason why I keep reaching for this is that it smells so good!

E.L.F.'s Glossy Gloss in Dragon Fruit is the lip gloss that I've been grabbing a lot this month. I love E.L.F.'s Glossy Glosses and if you want to see the other shades, you can find them in my archive.

Physician's Formula pH Matchmaker Powdered Blush in Rose is a beautiful rosey pink shade that lasted 12 hours on my skin. It does work with your pH balance to alter the shade. You can see my full review in my previous post here.

Physician's Formula pH Matchmaker Powdered Blush in Rose

 Its claims:

Photochromic Powders - light adjusting pigments adapt to your environment so color looks the same indoors & outside. Look Your Best in Every Light! LED-powered compact lights up and features a full-size mirror, for touch-ups anywhere & everywhere!

The estimate price of this blush is from about $10 to $13 depending on where you purchase it. It comes in a deep pan, so I assumed it had a lot of product, but the majority of the pan is just the space with the brush.
A little goes a long way with this blush. It is very pigmented and you only need a light touch. So if you have light skin, definitely use a light hand. This is especially a great blush for medium to darker skin tones due to the pigmentation. Also, as you can see, it has built-in lights that you can switch on and off. Just don't forget to turn it off or else the battery will die. I left mine on the whole day and my lights are not as bright anymore.
This is just one light swatch of the blush. Definitely pigmented. There are visible glitters but when applied to the face, they're not really noticeable, so I'm happy about that. Also, for its claims of the changing hue determined by your pH balance and lights, I didn't notice the hue changing after I applied this on my cheeks. It may have changed slightly but not so dramatically noticeable. I have seen photos on other blogs where their own blush hue changed on their skin, so like it says, it depends on your pH balance.

Overall, I have to say, I love this blush! It gave me the prettiest flush shade on my cheeks throughout a whole day and night out. I can't say if it lasts as long as 14 hours, like it claims, because I never wore it that long. But I can say it lasts 12 hours because that's the longest I've had this on before removing my makeup. This is definitely going to be in my monthly favorites this month!

Review: Skindinavia No More Shine Makeup Finish, Oily Skin Formula

I've had this for a year now because I don't use it very often; I tend to forget about it. I purchased it after hearing a bunch of reviews about it and I wanted something to help control my oily skin. Since it's the summer time, I decided to start using this again because I'm tired of getting oily really quick when I'm out.

Skindinavia's No More Shine Makeup Finish Oily Skin Formula Spray controls shine and absorbs oil and prevents makeup slippage.

I have to say, this really decreased my oiliness throughout the day and held my makeup really well. I would wear my makeup for 8 to 10 hours and usually my makeup would melt off my face a little. But when using this, my makeup stayed put on my face. I usually get really oily all over my face, but when I use this, I only get oily on the areas of my face that have bigger pores, like my nose and the area between my nose and cheeks. My chin and forehead are the other areas that usually get oily, and when I use this spray, instead of that greasy shine I usually get throughout the day on those areas, they would get more of that semi dewy look instead. Also, when I use this, I only have to blot once. I used to usually have to blot many times a day, so this definitely helped me with controlling the shine and oil on my face.

Also, don't forget to shake it before you use it.
And be sure to spray it before and after makeup application.
Those are the directions and I find that following them definitely makes a difference because I used to forget to shake the bottle and I would forget to spray it before makeup application.

Have you tried any makeup setting sprays?

What's in my purse? & my belated birthday!

Hi everyone! It was my birthday on the 16th and I decided to use this purse of mine that I found in one of the local shops here.
I've been loving quilted purses and wallets. I've yet to find a nice quilted wallet. My friend has a pink quilted wallet that she got from Japan and I love it! I wish I had a photo of it to show you all.
I love the print inside. It's a bit of an eye surprise.
I try to always bring a pen with me because there are a lot of days that I end up needing one.
Blotting sheets are a must for me to bring around because I have oily skin.
My beaten up wallet. I got this a while back from my boyfriend and it actually came with a chain that lets me turn it into a small over-the-shoulder purse. I'm trying to look for a small square wallet right now, so if you ladies have any recommendations on where to find one online, please let me know. :)
My itouch and phone
When I'm wearing contact lenses, I take my lens case with me. Mine are hippos. ^_^
I like to take both a lip balm and a lipstick with me. Even though Revlon lip butters are marketed as balms, they tend to accentuate the chapped lips I get throughout the day if I reapply it when my lips are chapped, so I still bring a handy lip balm just in case. But if my lips are being good, I go straight to the lip butter.
My keys, of course, are always with me. I found the tanned islander hello kitty one day and just had to get it. I have the membership cards for Vitamin World and Foot Locker which I don't really shop in those stores, but I just keep these just in case I do. My boyfriend shops at Foot Locker every week! Well, when he was here, back home. I always have to stop him from over spending. He loves the Nike shirts with all the different quotes, the snap backs that are back, and of course basketball shoes. I'm sure that we will be going back to Foot Locker when he gets back months from now. I also bring my usb and my little heart mirror which has Snow White on the front. My Lanyard was a gift and it was from Disneyland!

So, that is all I carry.
Sometimes I bring a larger purse, in which I bring more items.
I'll definitely do an updated post when I need to.
What's in your bag/purse?

Swatch: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake

 Bare Lips
Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake is a bubblegum baby pink shade. It is one of my favorite shades of the Revlon Lip Butters. Revlon lip butters are more moisturizing than regular lipsticks and they also have some glossiness to them. Even though they are called lip butters, I do not recommend applying them on dry, cracked, or chapped lips because, just like other regular lipsticks, they do accentuate the dry patches on your lips if you apply them while you have chapped lips.
